BTKeyMini makes the iPhone keyboard easier

Posted: 07 Nov 2008 12:00 PM PST

When I first got a chance to use the keyboard on the iPhone, I found it quite hard to use. I mean, there’s just this tiny keypad and you have to hit the keys exactly. Not to mention that there is no tactile feedback.

I don’t personally own an iPhone, but if I ever had to use one to send and receive very important emails, I would definitely want to have the BTKeyMini. The BTKeyMini is a Bluetooth keyboard designed for the iPhone as well as the iPod Touch.

With this device, you can wirelessly sync up to your Apple mobile device of choice, and have that wonderful feeing of clicking keys underneath your fingers.

As you can see, there is some sort of flap on the keyboard that is presumably there to hold the iPhone in place. I’m not certain how large this keyboard is, so I’m going to go with it being the size of an Asus Eee. That would make it easily portable if that is the case.

The only question that remains is when this product will become available. Apparently, it was announced in January, the available for pre-order in August. Any chance this will be available before Christmas? I believe the price will be approximately $92 when that happens.

Periscope from the Amazon Kindle

Posted: 07 Nov 2008 11:25 AM PST

This isn’t the first time we have reported on Amazon Kindle accessories, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. At first glance, you may think the Periscope is just a clip-on light, but it is many things, including a cover for the Kindle, notepad, and pen holder.

The cover itself is not genuine leather, but leatherette. There are some that would not like the cover, as it can make the not-so-mini Kindle even bigger. However, for those who like to take to notes as they read, you might as well have a notepad and pen holder.

As for the light itself, it uses two LEDs for illumination. Unfortunately, these two LEDs are not powered by what powers the Kindle, but three not included AAA batteries. These batteries are good for about 40 hours worth of power.

I believe that this is the first product that Periscope has offered for the Kindle. The company has actually been around for a while, but their products have been more focused on book illuminators, as well as the Executive Lighted Portfolio that has a writing pad, an expandable document compartment, as well as pockets for business cards and a calculator.

The Periscope Lighted Folio for the Amazon Kindle won’t be available until next month, but it is available to pre-order from the Periscope Web Site.

Clogau Gold Timepiece is a unique way of telling time

Posted: 07 Nov 2008 10:30 AM PST

Considering that most people have accurate clocks on their cellular phones, I’m not certain how many people still wear watches anymore. Most watches usually have the same design with the time-face itself, and then a band around it.

This new concept watch from Clogau Gold is very interesting because the band itself is actually the watch. As you can see from the picture, the watch has certain sections that are interchangeable. With this, you can change them to match whatever it is the user is wearing that night.

As for how the user tells the time, it is most unusual. You see those two lights that are on the wrist on the picture to the right? One of these lights is like the hour hand, and the other is the minute hand. From this, you are able to read the time by reading the Roman Numerals above the lights.

I’m not certain how accurate this would be, because with only twelve numbers, the minute hand can only show the time in five minute intervals. I’m also not certain how to set the time on the watch.

This technology is still a concept for now, as it is an entry to a Welsh competition to design jewelry intended at the middle aged woman. If it wins, I imagine this will be on the market soon.

Intelligent Digital Compass for nostalgic folks

Posted: 07 Nov 2008 08:00 AM PST

I’m not too sure why you would want to settle for a device like the Intelligent Digital Compass with the myriad of GPS devices around, but perhaps there is a novelty of marking up to three different spots in its memory so that you can return to them at a later time. Hopefully the Intelligent Digital Compass is robust enough to last for many years, since it will be interesting to bury a time capsule and check out its location a few decades down the road. Expected to hit the market sometime in January next year, it features an LCD display that shows you the direction you need to head to as well as the remaining distance, battery life and GPS signal status. With it being backlit, you won’t have any problem using this in the dark. Perfect for those who want to venture away from camp in a forest at night.

Collapsible Solar Traffic Cone

Posted: 07 Nov 2008 07:55 AM PST

I’m not sure whether most people would place a traffic cone in their car since that would take up precious boot space, but for those who want to make sure that they warn motorists in advance of a broken down vehicle, then the Collapsible Solar Traffic Cone would make sense. After all, it comes with a built-in rechargeable battery and solar panel that will harness the power of the sun to juice up its red LED, attracting attention even in pitch black darkness of the night, while the bright orange color ought to do its job well enough during the day. Being collapsible also makes it easy to store, and you can get it for $55 a pop.
